WEIGHT

Release excess weight – without dieting, deprivation or willpower battles

Because your relationship with food is shaped inside your mind…not on your plate.

You’ve done everything they told you to do

The diets.  The plans.  The calorie counting.  The slimming groups.  The willpower.  And either it didn’t work, or it worked and then slowly, quietly, it all came back.

If you’re here, you probably already know the problem isn’t discipline.  You’ve got discipline.  You’ve proved that over and over again.

The problem is that everything you’ve tried has been working on the outside.  And the patterns driving your eating live somewhere else entirely.

Why diets fail – and why it isn’t your fault

When you restrict food, your brain interprets it as famine.  Not metaphorically – literally.  It activates ancient survival programmes that slow your metabolism, increase hunger hormones, and make food the thing you think about constantly.

This is why research in the Lancet found that over half of UK adults are overweight or obese – not because they lack willpower, but because dieting is neurologically designed to fail.  Studies show most people abandon diets within a month, and many often find they regain more weight after every attempt, and faster each time.

Your body isn’t broken.  It’s doing exactly what it was built to do.

The question is what to do instead.

What’s actually driving the eating

In 25 years, three patterns come up repeatedly:

Conditioned eaters learned early that food meant love, comfort, or approval.  “Finish what’s on your plate.”  “You can have dessert when you’ve eaten all of your tea.”  As adults, there’s an old emotional rule still running – eat everything in front of you , even when you are not hungry.  Not because you’re weak.  Because the rule was installed before you had any say in it.

Unconscious eaters are the grazers, the nibblers, the hand-in-the-biscuit-tin-without-realising-it people.  They eat automatically – while watching TV, scrolling, stress, boredom.  It isn’t lack of control.  It’s a deeply ingrained habit loop running below conscious awareness.

Emotional eaters use food to change how they feel.  Stressed, bored, lonely, overwhelmed, numb – food shifts the state.  Quickly.  Reliably.  And for a few minutes, it works.  The problem isn’t eating.  The problem is that food became the primary tool for managing difficult feelings – often long before there were other options.  As adult, the patterns run automatically:  feel something uncomfortable, reach for food, feel better briefly, feel worse afterwards, repeat.  This isn’t greed.  It isn’t weakness.  It’s a coping strategy that made sense once and now costs more than it gives.

All three patterns have the same thing in common:  they live in the mind, not on the plate.  Which is why changing what you eat never touches them.

The Get Real! and Get Slim for Life® Programme

This is not another diet.  It’s not a meal plan.  It’s not a points system or a group weigh-in.

Get Real! and Get Slim for Life® is a multi award winning programme built on one principle:  when the internal pattern shifts, the behaviour changes naturally.  No battle.  No deprivation.  No forcing yourself.

Using hypnosis, we work directly with your brain to generate new neural pathways – for how you respond to food, to stress, to the emotional triggers that have been driving your eating for years.  Hypnosis isn’t about losing control.  It’s a clinically grounded process that works at the level where your habits actually live: the nervous system, the automatic responses, the patterns running underneath conscious thought.

The eating changes because the mind changes.  That’s not a promise – it’s a mechanism.

What the programme includes
  • A complimentary consultation to explore what’s actually driving your eating and what freedom looks like for you.
  • A personalised programme that works with your specific patterns – not a generic plan.
  • Hypnosis sessions that generate new neural pathways, changing your relationship with food.
  • Practical tools to use between sessions, so the shift happens in real life, not just in the therapy room.
  • Support from someone who has been helping people release weight for 25 years – not as a side offering, but as a specialist area of practice.
Your body becomes your partner in this process – not your opponent.
This work is for you if:
  • You’ve tried dieting repeatedly and you’re done with that cycle.
  • You know the problem isn’t food – it’s something underneath the food.
  • You’re ready to work on what’s actually driving the eating, not just the eating itself.
  • You want results that last, not another temporary fix.
This isn’t the right fit if:
  • You’re looking for a meal plan, a quick fix, or something that works without your full participation.

The clients that get the results – and keep them – are the ones who show up ready to do the real work.

Why hypnosis works for weight release

If information and willpower were enough, the diet industry wouldn’t exist.

Most people who struggle with weight know what they should eat.  They’ve read the books, followed the plans, tracked the calories.  The knowledge is there.  What isn’t there – yet – is the identity, the automatic responses and the relationships with food that makes those different choices feel natural rather than effortful.

Eating patterns, like all patterns, are generated below the level of conscious decision-making.  The reach for food under stress, the difficulty stopping when full, the cycle of restriction and release – these aren’t failures of discipline.  They are your brain running pathways it built, often years ago, in response to experiences and emotional needs that had nothing to do with hunger.

Hypnosis works at the level where those patterns were formed.  It doesn’t impose a diet.  It updates the wiring underneath the behaviour – so that different choices become the ones your brain reaches for automatically, without the constant effort of override.

Emma’s Journey to 8 stone weight loss

“I contacted Debbie in a last effort to lose weight as the only option I was given by my GP was gastric surgery.  I had tried every fad diet, slimming group and unlicensed magic pill. I’d had fleeting success but always had the weight come back on and always with a few extra lbs added.  I was at my wits end and surgery terrified me as I was aware it was a psychological issue I had with food but no doctor would ever entertain it.  I heard eat less, move more so often I had such low self esteem and didn’t believe surgery was the safest option.

My goal was to lose weight, and also to have a healthier relationship with food. I didn’t have a weight goal in mind because I’d seen myself fail so often I didn’t dare to dream. Maybe if I was lucky a couple of stone. Through working with Debbie I have surpassed my unimagined goal, I’ve lost 8 stone.

My relationship with food has changed completely.  I am no longer filled with anxiety when friends says “let’s go for a walk”.   I don’t check parking spaces to make sure I can get back into my car if someone has the audacity to park next to me.  I get to choose clothes I want to wear, and not what fits.  I don’t avoid social gatherings in fear of the seating, how strong are the seats, how wide are the seats – arena seating was full blown avoidance.

I now walk tall and proudly take up space in this world. My confidence is the highest it’s been in decades. I’ve learnt so much more that I could list by working with  Debbie. Mostly she’s taught me to listen to my body, and understand what it’s trying to tell me.  She taught me that my eating before was an emotional response and learnt behaviour.  I cannot put into words how valuable my time with Debbie has been.  She changed my life for the better and I cannot thank her enough. I still enjoy food but for the first time in a long time I can say I am also enjoying life.”

Barbara’s Journey to 4 stone weight loss

I had an unhealthy relationship with food.  While I really did want to reduce my weight, it was more important to me to change my mindset and my attitude to eating.

I was not eating enough during the day, and then I was having a large meal and lots of ‘treats’ on an evening.  I wanted to be able to stop thinking of food as rewards and stop thinking so much about what I could eat.

I learned to stop obsessing about what I was going to eat and know that no food was out of bounds.

I have learned to eat smaller meals, more regularly and only when hungry.  If I want to eat something that I once would consider a ‘treat’ I can.  The difference is now rather than it being a treat’, it’s part of my meal.  I have not eaten chocolate, a dessert or a cake since I started working with Debbie…and I have lost 4 stone without dieting.

Georgia’s Journey

“I contacted Debbie because I was unhappy with my weight.  I felt ashamed, I hated seeing myself in a mirror and I stopped doing a lot of things because of my weight and how being so overweight made me feel.  I even stopped meeting up with friends for coffee because I thought they would judge me if I even looked at a slice of cake. I was four stone overweight and I wanted rid of it all.  My goal (in addition to getting rid of four stone of excess weight) was to be able to stop eating when I’d had enough (rather than eating everything because it was on the plate) and to stop eating biscuits and snacks between meals.

I’m over the moon that I am four stone lighter, I can’t stop smiling and if there’s a mirror or a camera now, I’ll be in front of it!  There were also other benefits which to me are just as important.  I have so much more confidence and I’m living life to the full.  I can meet up with friends for a coffee and have a coffee.  If I feel like a slice of cake, I’ll have it and I’ll really enjoy it, rather than stuffing it in without even tasting it.  My knees no longer hurt, and I found out that I really enjoying going for long walks.  Another benefit was just how much money I saved on not overeating.  My weekly food bill was much less, and I saved a fortune by not buying takeaways three or four times a week.

I learned so much from working with Debbie.  I learned that reducing my weight never needed to involve depriving myself of anything and I also learned that I used food to change how I feel.  Debbie taught me techniques to use between the sessions which meant I ate the correct amount of food and how to change how I feel so I didn’t need to use food to do it.  The hypnotherapy MP3s she gave me to listen to between the sessions meant I felt as amazing all week as I did at the end of every session.

Debbie was my biggest supporter and believed in my when I found it hard to believe in myself, but she also held me accountable.  Working with Debbie was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
