Release excess weight – without dieting, deprivation or willpower battles
Because your relationship with food is shaped inside your mind…not on your plate.
What if weight loss didn’t have to feel like a fight?
Imagine feeling calm around food…
Imagine eating until you’re satisfied – without guilt, without overeating, and without thinking about food all day.
That’s not willpower.
That’s your brain working with you instead of against you.
And that’s exactly what I can help you achieve.
The science is clear: diets don’t work – but it’s not your fault
Research in the Lancet found that over half of adults in the UK are overweight or obese. Not because they’re weak…but because the brain interprets dieting as famine.
When you cut calories, restrict carbs, or follow rigid plans, your body activates ancient survival programmes designed to protect you by:
- Slowing your metabolism.
- Storing more fat.
- Increasing hunger hormones.
- Making you think about food constantly.
This is why studies show that most people abandon diets within a month – not because they lack discipline, but because their biology is fighting them…
Your brain is trying to keep you alive.
And you’re trying to fit into your jeans.
It’s a mismatch.
Hypnotherapy gently resolves that mismatch.
Why you might be struggling (and why it’s not about food)
Most overeating has little to do with hunger.
It’s driven by unconscious patterns formed years, sometimes decades earlier. here are the two main patterns I see in clients:
Conditioned eaters
This often starts in childhood:
- “Finish what is on your plate.”
- “Eat everything and then you can have dessert.”
- “Don’t waste food.”
Love, comfort, and approval became linked to eating everything in front of you – even when you weren’t hungry.
As adults, conditioned eaters often struggle to stop. There’s an old emotional rule running the show.
Unconscious eaters
These are the grazers, the nibblers, the “hand in the biscuit tin without realising it” people.
They eat automatically – during TV, scrolling, working, feeling bored, or just moving through the day.
It isn’t lack of control.
It’s a deeply ingrained habit loop happening below conscious awareness.
The Yo-Yo Cycle: Why dieting makes weight loss harder
Scientists discovered that repeatedly losing and regaining weight dramatically slows metabolism. In one well-known experiment with dieting cycles (using rats):
- The first weight loss cycle took 21 days for the rats to lose weight.
- The second took 46 days to lose the same amount of weight.
- The rats also regained the weight three times faster.
Humans respond in the same way.
Your body becomes more efficient at storing fat.
This is why diets fail in the long term. And why so many people regain more weight after every attempt.
If the solution is not another diet…what is the solution?
The real work happens inside the mind
Overeating isn’t driven by the food itself. It’s driven by:
- Emotional triggers.
- Stress.
- Patterns from childhood.
- Automatic habits.
- Old beliefs about food.
- Unmet needs.
- Using food to change how you feel.
Diets try to change behaviour from the outside.
Hypnotherapy changes it from the inside – where your habits, cravings and triggers actually live.
When the internal pattern shifts, the overeating stops naturally.
No battle.
No forcing yourself.
No deprivation.
What hypnotherapy helps you do
- Feel satisfied with less food.
- Break emotional eating cycles.
- Stop “all or nothing” patterns.
- End the guilt –> binge –> guilt loop.
- Reduce food noise in your mind.
- Respond to stress without eating.
- Feel calmer, more in control, and more confident.
Your body becomes your partner in this process – not your opponent.

Emma’s Journey to 8 stone weight loss
“I contacted Debbie in a last effort to lose weight as the only option I was given by my GP was gastric surgery. I had tried every fad diet, slimming group and unlicensed magic pill. I’d had fleeting success but always had the weight come back on and always with a few extra lbs added. I was at my wits end and surgery terrified me as I was aware it was a psychological issue I had with food but no doctor would ever entertain it. I heard eat less, move more so often I had such low self esteem and didn’t believe surgery was the safest option.
My goal was to lose weight, and also to have a healthier relationship with food. I didn’t have a weight goal in mind because I’d seen myself fail so often I didn’t dare to dream. Maybe if I was lucky a couple of stone. Through working with Debbie I have surpassed my unimagined goal, I’ve lost 8 stone.
My relationship with food has changed completely. I am no longer filled with anxiety when friends says “let’s go for a walk”. I don’t check parking spaces to make sure I can get back into my car if someone has the audacity to park next to me. I get to choose clothes I want to wear, and not what fits. I don’t avoid social gatherings in fear of the seating, how strong are the seats, how wide are the seats – arena seating was full blown avoidance.
I now walk tall and proudly take up space in this world. My confidence is the highest it’s been in decades. I’ve learnt so much more that I could list by working with Debbie. Mostly she’s taught me to listen to my body, and understand what it’s trying to tell me. She taught me that my eating before was an emotional response and learnt behaviour. I cannot put into words how valuable my time with Debbie has been. She changed my life for the better and I cannot thank her enough. I still enjoy food but for the first time in a long time I can say I am also enjoying life.”

Barbara’s Journey to 4 stone weight loss
“I had an unhealthy relationship with food. While I really did want to reduce my weight, it was more important to me to change my mindset and my attitude to eating.
I was not eating enough during the day, and then I was having a large meal and lots of ‘treats’ on an evening. I wanted to be able to stop thinking of food as rewards and stop thinking so much about what I could eat.
I learned to stop obsessing about what I was going to eat and know that no food was out of bounds.
I have learned to eat smaller meals, more regularly and only when hungry. If I want to eat something that I once would consider a ‘treat’ I can. The difference is now rather than it being a treat’, it’s part of my meal. I have not eaten chocolate, a dessert or a cake since I started working with Debbie…and I have lost 4 stone without dieting.

Georgia’s Journey
“I contacted Debbie because I was unhappy with my weight. I felt ashamed, I hated seeing myself in a mirror and I stopped doing a lot of things because of my weight and how being so overweight made me feel. I even stopped meeting up with friends for coffee because I thought they would judge me if I even looked at a slice of cake. I was four stone overweight and I wanted rid of it all. My goal (in addition to getting rid of four stone of excess weight) was to be able to stop eating when I’d had enough (rather than eating everything because it was on the plate) and to stop eating biscuits and snacks between meals.
I’m over the moon that I am four stone lighter, I can’t stop smiling and if there’s a mirror or a camera now, I’ll be in front of it! There were also other benefits which to me are just as important. I have so much more confidence and I’m living life to the full. I can meet up with friends for a coffee and have a coffee. If I feel like a slice of cake, I’ll have it and I’ll really enjoy it, rather than stuffing it in without even tasting it. My knees no longer hurt, and I found out that I really enjoying going for long walks. Another benefit was just how much money I saved on not overeating. My weekly food bill was much less, and I saved a fortune by not buying takeaways three or four times a week.
I learned so much from working with Debbie. I learned that reducing my weight never needed to involve depriving myself of anything and I also learned that I used food to change how I feel. Debbie taught me techniques to use between the sessions which meant I ate the correct amount of food and how to change how I feel so I didn’t need to use food to do it. The hypnotherapy MP3s she gave me to listen to between the sessions meant I felt as amazing all week as I did at the end of every session.
Debbie was my biggest supporter and believed in my when I found it hard to believe in myself, but she also held me accountable. Working with Debbie was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
